BEVERLY FARMS: Nancy S. Cavanaugh, 24, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 11, 2012. Born in Beverly on August 11, 1987, she was the beloved daughter of Ellen Dalton of Beverly Farms and Derek J. Cavanaugh of Boston.
A lifelong resident of Beverly Farms, she was a graduate of the Glen Urquhart School and graduated Cum Laude from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a degree in psychology. She was currently enrolled at Westfield State University in the School of Social Work.
Nancy was employed as a counselor working with troubled adolescents for the past couple of years.
In addition to her parents, Nancy is survived by her brother, Derek “Jake” Cavanaugh and his wife, Jade Li of Suzhou, China; two sisters, Jessica Cavanaugh of Beverly Farms and her fiancé, Jonathan Palm of Beverly and Laura Cavanaugh of Beverly Farms; paternal grandfather, Joseph Wise of Westfield; her longtime friend, Andrew McFarland of Hamilton; her father’s partner, John Fabiano of Boston and his children, Tyanna and her husband, William Coe and Nicholas Fabiano and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held on Sunday in the Glen Urquhart School, 74 Hart St., Beverly Farms at 2 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Nancy Cavanaugh Scholarship Fund at Westfield State University School of Social Work. Arrangements are under the direction of the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot St., Beverly.
