Center Harbor-----Eric (Mac) H. McLendon, Sr., 71, of 62 Plymouth Street, died at his home on Wednesday, February 15, 2012.
Mr. McLendon was born July 12, 1940 in Wadesboro, N.C., the son of Charlie and Grace (Gaskins) McLendon. After graduating from John Nichols High School in Oxford, NC, he received a football scholarship to Frederick Military Academy in Portsmouth, VA. He was married for 28 years to Betty Ryder of So.Tamworth, NH. They lived in North Carolina for 14 years before moving to Sandwich, New Hampshire.
He worked as a salesman for fifty years, receiving numerous awards for top sales. He retired in 2002. Some of his most enjoyable times were spent with his children and grandchildren, on the golf course, playing poker!, and working in his yard. He had a great love of music and dancing.
Survivors include a son, Eric H. McLendon, Jr. of Effingham, NH; two daughters, Lisa Merriman of Sandwich, NH, and Karen McLendon of Center Harbor, NH; five grandchildren, Bryan McLendon of California and Wyatt McLendon of Montana, Charly and William Johnston of Sandwich, NH and Emily Bowse of Bristol, NH; three brothers, Bob McLendon of Charlotte, NC, Herman McLendon of Lenore, NC and Fred McLendon of Morganton, NC and a sister, Betty Mitchell, of Shelby, NC. In addition to his parents, Mr. McLendon was predeceased by a brother, Earl McLendon.
There will be no calling hours or funeral service.
