Obituary

Stella E. (Cramer) Swarr 93, of Franklin, died peacefully, Friday January 20, 2012 at the Maples Rehabilitation Center in Wrentham, following a long illness. She was the wife of the late Samuel V. Swarr.
Born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, January 12, 1919 a daughter of the late Joseph & Mary (Douts) Cramer she was a former longtime resident of Lancaster, Penn. and Cumberland, RI.
Mrs. Swarr was educated in Pennsylvania and was a retired homemaker.
In August of 1943 during World War II she joined the United States Army, she attained the rank of sergeant and was awarded the American Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the WAAC Service Ribbon, and she was honorably discharged in December of 1945.
Her interests included bird watching, wildlife, cooking, knitting, reading, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by 4 sons; Robert Swarr of New Britain, Ct, John Swarr of Hayward, CA, Thomas Swarr of Hartford, CT, James Swarr of Franklin, and a daughter Barbara Taylor of Plainville, CT. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren & a sister in law Barbara Swarr-Massie and her husband Brantley Massie of Lancaster PA.
Stella was the last survivor of 9 children.
Her funeral service and interment, at Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland, Rhode Island will be held privately.
