Jeremy Scott Vela
April 24, 1983 – April 19, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jeremy Scott Vela, who left us far too soon on April 19, 2025, just days before his 42nd birthday. He died of a heart attack at his family residence.
Born in Ventura, California, on April 24, 1983, at 3:29 PM, Jeremy was a proud Ventura native. Growing up, Jeremy was an amazing football player for the Ventura Packers. He attended Buena High School, then finished the remainder of his high school years in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He worked as a Lead Valve Technician at Instrument Control Services, where he was responsible for overseeing the inspection, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of industrial valves.
He was proud to be on his Harley and never far from his close group. The brotherhood of the road was a part of his soul, and the time he spent on two wheels brought him true joy.
Jeremy's greatest pride and joy were his two children, Keenen Scott Vela (18) and Chanel Lee Vela (11), whom he loved deeply and unconditionally. He is also survived by his loving parents, Charles and Donna Foulks, as well as his siblings: Charles Foulks, Stevie Foulks, Lindsey Fildes, Madison Foulks, and Ethan Foulks.
His love and impact extended to many nieces and nephews, including LaeLah Marrufo, Katana Gonzales, CJ Foulks, Jaxxon Foulks, Kiowa Apodaca, and Micah Arizaga. Jeremy is preceded in death by his father, Ruben Vela.
Those who knew Jeremy will remember his infectious smile, big heart, and unwavering loyalty to his family and friends. He had a magnetic presence and a generous spirit — someone who would give the shirt off his back without hesitation.
A memorial celebration of Jeremy’s life will be held on Saturday, May 17th, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at the Surf Rodeo Headquarters. All who knew and loved Jeremy are welcome to attend and share stories, memories, and laughter in his honor.
Though he is gone, Jeremy’s light lives on in his children, his family, and the countless lives he touched. He will be forever missed and remembered with love.
Arrangements are under the direction of the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, Ventura.
