Obituary

Gail Patricia (Reynolds) Salcito

Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Nurse

Gail Patricia Reynolds was born in June 1947 to Bob and Laura (Clark) Reynolds in Waterbury, Connecticut. Although she was an only child, she was part of a large Irish family that she cherished. She attended Chase Grammar School (Class of ’61) and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1965, where she was active in many school activities, including cheerleading. In 1968, she earned her nursing degree from St. Mary’s Hospital and began a lifelong career as a Registered Nurse, dedicating her life to serving others with compassion and care.

Gail married her high school sweetheart, Richard Louis Salcito — and together, as loving and devoted companions, they created a life centered around their three children and extended family. In 1980, their young family moved to Londonderry, New Hampshire, the first of their families in generations to venture out of their hometown of Waterbury. Gail spent the next 21 years of her nursing career at Derry Medical Center, retiring in 2001.

Gail was a passionate gardener and an active member of the Windham Garden Club for many years. She touched the hearts of so many with her kindness and compassion, embracing people from all walks of life. She had a creative and adventurous spirit, always interested in new things and travel, though she was happiest with her hands in the soil or her feet on a sandy beach, whether in Ogunquit, Maine, or St. Martin.

In 2016, she began facing a series of serious health challenges with courage and resilience, with her family by her side. After more than nine years of illness, she passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025.

She is survived by her husband, Richard; her daughter, Kristen Salcito; her sons, Richard Scott Salcito and Jeffrey Salcito; and her beloved grandchildren: Nicholas R. and Anthony J. Salcito, and Nolan C. and Gabriella E. Farren — all of whom brought her great joy. She also loved her loyal ‘guard dogs’ — Leo, Tatum, Lulu, and Patches. Two people especially dear to her were Robin Heider and Marcia Buckley, her treasured friends and ‘partners in crime’ for over 40 years.

Her family is deeply grateful to Dr. Dennis Rork and Nurse Practitioner Joyce Aliseo for their dedicated care and to the team at Hanover Hills Rehab Facility for their compassion and support.

Gail was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed. She will be remembered always for her kind heart and effervescent spirit.

Che il Signore prenda Gail tra le sue braccia e la conduca alla pace del paradiso. A presto. Lei era la mia vita.

(May the Lord take Gail in His arms and lead her to the peace of paradise. Until we meet again. She was my life.)
