CHICOPEE – Carmino R. Daniele, 95, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, March 22, 2025. He passed into Eternal Life at Mary’s Meadow in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family and wonderful caregivers. He was born in Springfield on November 7, 1929, the beloved son of the late Antonio and Anna (Calabrese) Daniele. He was raised in the Six Corners section of Springfield, graduated from Technical High School, and moved to Chicopee in 1949 where he lived the remainder of his life. He served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army and attained the rank of Private. He and his wife, Margaret, were the longtime co-owners of Sorento’s Restaurant and Daniele’s Gulf Service Station, both on Westover Road in Chicopee. He was a member of the Chicopee Lodge of Elks 1849, Knights of Columbus Fairview Council 4044 in Chicopee, and the Massachusetts Assessors Association. Most of all, he was a hard working man who took great pride in his family and serving the community. Active in his Catholic faith, he was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and soul mate, Margaret J. (DeMaio) Daniele. They were married on July 4, 1949 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 73 years of happiness together. He leaves his two loving children, Susan J. Zacharie and Anthony J. Daniele, both of Chicopee; his cherished grandson, Scott A. Zacharie and his spouse, Erich Zielonka, of Chicopee; his two cherished great grandchildren, Bridget and Dylan Zacharie; his grandson, Kristopher M. Zacharie and his wife, Kelly, of Chicopee; his dear niece, Angie Leone of Wilbraham; and his many additional nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended family members. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his beloved son-in-law, Donald J. Zacharie who was Called Home on April 3, 2024; his dear brother, Gerardo Daniele; his two dear sisters, Eda Blair and her husband, Raymond, and Mary Bozek and her husband, Joseph; his dear sister-in-law, Olimpia “Gina” Daniele; and his dear nephew, Robert Bozek. His family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Mary’s Meadow in Holyoke for their compassion and care for Carmino. His Funeral will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 28, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The funeral home parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Harmony House, Inc., 66 View Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
