Paul Francis Joseph
December 9, 1942 – March 17, 2025
Paul Francis Joseph, 82, passed away on March 17, 2025. He was born in Warren, Ohio, on December 9, 1942, to the late Helen and William Joseph. Paul lived a life filled with curiosity, ingenuity and a deep love for the sea.
Paul proudly served in the U.S. Navy before embarking on a diverse and accomplished career. After an Honorable Discharge from the Navy, he relocated to Rhode Island to marry and start a family. Initially a skilled machinist, he switched careers to computers in the early 1970’s. While residing in Central Massachusetts, Paul held numerous computer technology positions at Data General, Digital Equipment Corporation and Excel Switching. He moved to Wellfleet, Cape Cod in 1996. After “retirement”, he embraced coastal life that reflected his appreciation for nature and hands-on work. While in Wellfleet, he was employed as an Assistant Harbormaster, worked a cranberry bog, an oyster grant, and helped many friends with various construction projects.
A true jack-of-all-trades, Paul had an unmatched talent for mechanical and electrical tinkering, earning him the title of a real-life MacGyver. He generously volunteered his time to helping friends repair their small engines, never accepting anything in return. In his younger years, he was an avid skier, always up for an adventure. He took pleasure in golfing, boating, shooting pool and creating beautiful stained-glass pieces. Paul was a loyal Patriots fan. He enjoyed fishing, with Corn Hill Beach being his favorite spot.
Paul is survived by his longtime friend and companion, Martha Gorman, his son, Paul Joseph, his daughter and son-in-law, Colleen and John Molt and his beloved grandsons, Bailey and Casey Hogan. His devoted dog, Jackson, and his senior cockatiel, Buster, will miss his presence. He was greeted in Heaven by his parents, two older siblings, Bill and Helen, twin brother, Dave, younger sister, Sister Barbara Joseph OSF, and former spouse, Simonne Morin.
A Celebration of Life will take place in July 2025 on Cape Cod, with details to be updated at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paul’s memory to The Lily House of Wellfleet, MA at https://www.thelilyhouse.org/ways-you-can-help or Hospice Services of Massachusetts in Lakeville, MA at https://hospiceservicesofma.com.
Paul’s legacy of resourcefulness, determination and love for the sea will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
