Obituary

Harriet Jasper Toben, 90, of Jupiter, FL, died Wednesday March 19, 2025 in The Baldwin in Londonderry, NH. She was born on September 9, 1934, in Bronx, NY, the daughter of the late Joseph and Lillie (Fuchs) Jasper. She had been a resident of Jupiter for the past 8 years, formerly living in Hastings-On-the Hudson, NY. Harriet graduated from Queens College in New York, with her Bachelors degree in Fine Arts.

Harriet began her career in the garment industry as a buyer for Sears. At the time it was a male dominated industry, and she was unique and innovative in her approach to buying. In the late 70’s and 80’s she began designing her own line of women’s active sportswear. Her daughters often modeled the designs for her so that she could finesse the pieces. She began her own company, The Unicorn and Rainbow. Her designs were sold in major department stores and chain stores, nationwide and often featured in Vogue magazine.

Over the years she had many varied interests and hobbies including painting, ceramics, yoga, gardening, tennis, swimming, writing, reading, and new age concepts. She delighted in learning new things and sharing them with her family and friends.

She is survived by two daughters, Pam Grushkin of Bridgeport, CT, and Nancy Perkins and her husband Les of Windham, NH; five granddaughters and one great-granddaughter, Aly, Abigail & Alex Carter, Genna & Andrew Harrison, Leigha & Eric Shattuck, Zoe Perkins & fiancé Zach Breton, and Lily Perkins and Krantz Medeus. She was predeceased by her husband, Marvin Toben in 2020 and her brother, Lloyd Jasper.

As the matriarch of the family she was known for her excellent cooking skills, great sense of humor, fierce loyalty, and unabashed honesty!

Following cremation, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In her final months, Home Health and Hospice’s nurses and volunteers were a great comfort and support to Harriet and her family.
