George William “Bill” Givens
August 23, 1944- March 17, 2025
George William “Bill” Givens, 80, of New Palestine, IN, passed away at home on March 17, 2025.
He was born on August 23, 1944 in Anderson, the son of Roy and Edith (Stottlemyer) Givens.
He graduated from Lapel High School in 1962 and served in the US Army from 1962-65. He was employed 34 years with Delco Remy, where he retired on October 1, 1999. Bill was a member of Markleville North Christian Church and the Fellowship Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed sports, especially watching his grandchildren play.
He is survived by his wife, Janene (Collier) Givens, whom he married June 25, 1966; three children, Laura (Dan) Wood, Pam (Dan) Richwine, Brian (Jenny) Givens; six grandchildren, Leah Richwine, Alex Richwine, Aaron Richwine, Jaclyn (Aric) Miller, Aaron Traeger, Molly Traeger; two great grandchildren, Maxx Gossett and Rhett Miller; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roy ” Gene” Givens and sister, Kay Ryan.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, from 2-5 PM at Markleville North Christian Church, followed by the funeral service officiated by Pastor John Hackney and Pastor Dan Richwine.
Entombment will take place on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Anderson Memorial Park with Masonic and Military Rites.
