CHICOPEE – Matthew Paul Durand, 41, of Chicopee, was Called Home on Monday, March 10, 2025. He passed into Eternal Life from his home surrounded by all the memories that he loved and cherished. He was born in Springfield on April 8, 1983, a beloved son of Lori A. (Kwasnik) Manning and Gerald H. Durand, Jr. He lived his early years in Springfield, moved to Chicopee at the age of 11, graduated from Chicopee High School and lived in Chicopee for most of his life. He worked in home construction and specialized in drywall. Matthew enjoyed the outdoors, especially playing basketball and throwing a football with his sons. He was a die-hard New England sports fan. Most of all, he devoted his time and gave all of his love to his cherished sons, Matthew and Jacob. He leaves his beloved mother, Lori A. Manning of Chicopee; Lori’s former husband, David Manning of Okeechobee, FL; his beloved father, Gerald H. Durand, Jr. and his wife, Gina, of East Longmeadow; his two cherished sons, Matthew P. Durand, Jr. and Jacob D. Durand, both of Chicopee; his loving brother, Andrew G. Durand and his partner, Jaclyn Gewinner, of Springfield; his cherished niece, Amberlee Durand; his loving grandparents, Paul and Joan Martel and Geraldine Durand, all of Chicopee; his dear step-brother, Gerald H. Durand III; and his many uncles, aunts, cousins, numerous friends, and extended family members. He was predeceased by his loving grandfather, Gerald H. Durand. His burial will be private.
