Ronald Homer "Poppy" Shields, 83, of Alexandria died March 11, 2025 at Community Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born December 6, 1941 in Muncie, the son of Homer M. and Catherine (Lawson) Shields.
Poppy was self employed. He owned and operated and was a mechanical engineer of Tri-Tech Engineering.
Poppy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sally (Hopkins) Shields of Alexandria; four children, Stacey Balderrama and Kevin Shields of Alexandria, Jason Shields and Scott (Nikkole) Shields both of Anderson; brother, Roy Shields of Westfield; grandchildren, Daniel, Jonah (Rachael) Felicia, Austen (Maria), Caleb, Annastyn, Whitlee and Westen; great-grandson, Otto; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Larry and Ernie.
Services will be Saturday, March 1 5, 2025 at 12 noon at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Paul Werling of Vermillion Christian Church officiating.
Visitation will be 10-noon on Saturday, March 15 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
