Dennis J. Lowthers, a lifelong Medford resident, passed away unexpectedly, at his home where he was born and lived all his life, on Sunday, March 2, 2025. He was 80 years old. Dennis was the beloved husband of Alma M. (Allain) Lowthers. He was the son of the late Charles and Mary Josephine (Jewett) Lowthers.

Dennis was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving from 1962-1964. Prior to his retirement, Dennis was employed by the former Container Corp. of America and the former Longview Fiber Company, as Superintendent. Dennis’s favorite job for over 46 years, was working at the Boston Garden as a Concessionaire. He developed many friends and relationships there and always looked forward to serving the many fans that attended the Garden events. Dennis enjoyed watching and cheering for his favorite sports teams, including but not limited to, the Boston Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing a good game of cribbage. Dennis was a member of the American Legion-Post #45 of Medford and the Crystal Community Club of Wakefield. He also loved sitting on his porch, giving treats to all of the neighborhood dogs.

Dennis was the devoted father of Dennis J. Lowthers and his partner Ray Davis of Boston, Michelle J. (Lowthers) Galante and her husband Steve of Lynnfield and Melissa I. (Lowthers) Sheehan of Woburn. He was the adored grandfather of Jacqueline and Stephen Monahan and Trevor and Cameron Sheehan. Dennis was the dear brother of Brenda (Lowthers) Neary of Derry, NH, and the late Charles, Paul, Walter and Bruce Lowthers, the late Marjorie Bailey and the late Charlene "Joyce" Bergen. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and "Grand Pups".

Dennis’s funeral will be held at Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, MA. on Monday, March 10th at 9AM, followed by a funeral Mass at St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford, MA. at 10AM. Relatives and friends are invited. Services will conclude at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford, MA.

Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, March 9th, from 3-7PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to American Diabetes Association, 260 Cochituate Road, Suite 200, Framingham, MA 01701.
