Howard John Penrod
October 28, 1943 – March 4, 2025
Howard John Penrod, 81, of Anderson passed away at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Elwood following an extended illness.
He was born on October 28, 1943 in Philadelphia, PA to Howard S. and Anna (Bolton) Penrod. He graduated from Horace Mann High School in San Diego, CA. He served in the US Marine Corp in the 4th Armor Tank Division.
He worked for the Indiana State Highway Department for 28 years and retired in 2006.
He was a member of Tri County Christian Church in Middletown. He was a member of The Mounds Detachment of the Marine Corp League. He was very active with Toys 4 Tots. He was train hobbyist, enjoyed tinkering with arts and crafts, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his two daughters, Sara (Paulo) Vaz deCarvalho of Scott AFB, Illinois and April Penrod of Anderson; a brother, John (Patti) Penrod of Oakland, TN; three grandchildren, Zephina, Zoe, and Zander Vaz deCarvalho; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Saubert of Anderson; a brother-in-law, Clark Falcione of Anderson; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce Penrod in 1992; and a sister-in-law, Teresa Falcione.
Funeral service will be at 1:00pm on Friday, March 7, 2025 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Jared Tyler officiating. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted.
Visitation will be from 11:00am-1:00pm on Friday at the funeral home.
Family will have a drop off box during the visitation hours for anyone wanting to donate for Toys 4 Tots.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Toys 4 Tots.
