CHICOPEE – Marthe M. "Martha" (Tanguay) Journeault, 98, a longtime resident of Piedmont Street in the Hungry Hill section of Springfield and McKinley House on Asinof Avenue in Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. She passed into Eternal Life at her granddaughter's home in Southwick with her loving granddaughter by her side. She was born in Saint Vallier, P.Q., Canada on November 14, 1926, a beloved daughter of the late Joseph E. and Marie L. (Carrier) Tanguay. She was raised and educated in Canada and at the age of 18, she moved to Springfield where she lived for many years. She later lived at McKinley House in Chicopee for many years until moving to Southwick with her granddaughter until the time of her passing. She was a longtime communicant of the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church where she was a member of Les Dames de Sainte Anne and Saint Mary Church, both in Springfield. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert J. Journeault who was Called Home on March 28, 1997. They were married in Saint Vallier, P.Q., Canada on June 24, 1946 and were blessed with over 50 years of happiness together. She leaves her loving and devoted granddaughter, Debra A. Kana and her husband, Shawn, of Southwick; her daughter, Denise M. Pohore and her husband, Paul, of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her three dear brothers, Roger, Raymond, and Camille Tanguay; and her dear sister, Cecile Breton. A Graveside Service will be held in the spring at Calvary Cemetery in Chicopee at the convenience of the family. There are no visiting hours. Her funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107.
