With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, and Friend Cynthia M Silva “Cookie” who peacefully departed this life on February 21, 2025, at the age of 82.
She is survived by her daughter Susan (Fernandez) Dowdie and her Son in-law Dale Dowdie of Malden MA, and her Beloved Son- John J Fernandez of Quincy MA and deceased daughter Dina M Fernandez. She leaves behind her Grandchildren Tyler James Malden MA, Midori Dowdie Manchester NH, Haley (Dowdie) Rutledge and her Husband Patrick Rutledge of Jamaica Plain MA, Mecca J Fernandez of New Rochelle NY, and Wisdom A Fernandez of New Rochelle NY. And her many, Nieces and Nephews whom she adored loving each one just as if they were her own children.
She is survived by her Beloved Siblings Patricia Silva of Carver MA, James Silva of Bristol, CT, Gerald Silva of Jacksonville NC, Lisa (Silva) Miranda (husband Frank) of Bridgewater MA, Gary Silva (wife Cheryl) Plymouth MA
Predeceased by her Siblings, Joseph Silva, Wayne Silva, Donald Silva, Arthur Silva, Shirley Silva.
She was born in Waterbury Connecticut to the late Joseph & Lena (Gomes) Silva she was the 2nd child out of 11 Children. She was a natural beauty and at the age of 17 she was presented with a Royal Scepter, and Diamond Tiara while draped in a Purple Ermin Robe as she was crowned “Miss Cape Verde Quincentennial” representing the 500th Anniversary Celebration for the discovery of the Cape Verde Islands. Her claim to fame and favorite saying was “No one will be able to take my Crown or Title ever!”
She is a former student at Wilby High School Waterbury CT and moved to Carver MA, which became her forever home.
Cookie was a sassy fun loving, spirited Woman who always loved a great joke, the most important things in life revolved around her family and she always made those around her feel welcome and cherished. Her Pride and Joy were her Children, and Grandchildren whom she adored beyond measure.
She was a Talented and Creative Artist who loved to Read, Crochet, Knit, and Sew, but her passion was Cooking and Baking, and always enjoying listening to the Music of her childhood and Bruno Mars.
Her laughter, and loving spirit will be greatly missed by all she may have left physically but each time we see a butterfly it is a gentle reminder that we will all meet again…
Visiting hours will be held at the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Saturday March 1st from 10:00am-2:00pm followed by a prayer service at 2:00pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be private.
