Lidia (Solano) Bordonaro, age 91, of Somerville passed away on Friday, February 14th, at Winchester Nursing Center. Born in Tripoli, Libya, and raised in Augusta, Sicily, she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Rosa (Romeo) Sulano. Lidia came to the US in 1954, settling in Boston’s West End before moving to Somerville in 1967, and was employed as a seamstress. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and took great pride and joy helping to raise her grandchildren.
Lidia was the beloved wife of the late Antonio Bordonaro, and the devoted mother of Joanne Lebruto and her husband Alexander of North Andover, Joseph Bordonaro and his wife Mila of Falls Church, VA, and Robert Bordonaro and his wife Chrissy of Winchester. She was the loving grandmother of Christine Frankfort and her husband Brendan, Alexander J. Lebruto and his wife Anne, Elizabeth Lebruto, Robert Anthony Bordonaro and Ani Bordonaro. Lidia was the dear sister of Giuseppe Sulano and his late wife Giuseppa, the late Domenica and Charles DeGrande, and the late Dominic Solano and his surviving former wife Gloria. She was the cherished aunt of Valerie, Leigh, Lisa and the late Roseanne.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with Lidia’s family on Thursday, February 20th at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford from 9 AM through 12 noon, followed by a funeral service at noon. Services will conclude with entombment at Holy Cross Mausoleum, Malden.
