Elaine L. Russo, age 78, a longtime resident of Winchester, MA, passed away on February 14, 2025, lovingly surrounded by her family.
Born in Boston, Elaine was the daughter of the late Albert and Elvira (Bindbuetel) Krueger. She was raised and educated in Boston and was a graduate of Roslindale High School.
While growing up, Elaine learned early how to manage her time and to give back to the community when her family devoted their time volunteering with United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Boston. She fondly remembered her family’s experience assisting on a group trip to Jamaica.
She earned her teaching degree from Boston Teachers College and taught kindergarten in the Boston Public School System until she had children. When her children were older, she returned to the classroom and worked as a Teacher’s Assistant at Muraco Elementary School in Winchester.
Elaine was a longtime, devoted member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Woburn. She was active in many groups and committees there, including the altar guild, the choir and the bell choir. In her spare time, she could be found quilting and knitting and often provided handmade blankets for newborn babies at local hospitals. Elaine also loved shopping trips, baking and especially making chocolates. Occasionally she enjoyed having a nice Manhattan with friends and family.
Elaine is lovingly survived by her children: Jeff Russo and his wife Nicole, Jennifer King and her partner Traci, all of Winchester. She was the cherished grandmother of Richard James Russo, Brittany Elizabeth Russo, Jeffrey Paul Russo, Jr., Christopher Carter Russo and Mason Christopher King. She was also the dear sister of Albert Krueger and his wife Sandra, and Dorothy Krueger, all of NJ, and is further survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 60 Forest Park Road, Woburn, on Monday, February 24 at 11AM. Visiting Hours will be held in the church prior to the service from 9:30-11AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend and there is a zoom link below. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of MA/NH https://www.alz.org/manh.
