Giuseppe L. Manganiello
2/13/2025

Giuseppe L. Manganiello, of Medford, passed away peacefully on February 13th. He was 89. Born and raised in Pietradefusi, Avellino, Italy, he was the cherished son of the late Umberto and Maria (Salerno) Manganiello.

Giuseppe was the beloved husband of the late Rosa (Vacca) Manganiello. He was the devoted father of Maria Manning of Hudson, NH and her late husband Sean, Joseph Manganiello and his wife Barbara of Jefferson, Susanne Bromander and her husband Jay of Stoneham, John Manganiello and his wife Maria of Peabody, Gina Hayes of Everett and her late husband Frankie, and Steve Manganiello and his wife Lisa of Merrimac. He was the loving Papa of Mark and his wife Jess, Kristen and her husband Tom, Joseph, Lisa, James, Alexis, Paige, Nico, Ava, Matthew and his fiancée Heather, Ashley, and Nono to Dante and Angelina. He was the caring Great Papa of Sean, Kayleigh, Isla, Mila, Liam, Nikko and Alita. He was the dear brother of Elena and her husband Luigi Nuzzolo, Angelina, Giorgio, and the late Lisa, Parmina, Antonietta and Saverio. He also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

Giuseppe immigrated to America and met the love of his life Rosa. Together they had six children He worked hard as a butcher to provide for his family, holding jobs at All State Beef Co., Colonial Provision Company, Star Market, and Sulmona Meat Market in the North End where he enjoyed speaking to his co-workers and customers in his native Italian tongue!

At home, Giuseppe enjoyed making homemade wine, limoncello, prosciutto, Italian sausages, and jarring tomato sauce and vinegar peppers. He had a bountiful garden and tended to his many fruit trees and his large grapevine. He loved spicy food. There wasn’t a pepper too hot for him to eat! He enjoyed going to the beach, taking trips to Aruba, and going on cruises. His favorite pastime was visiting casinos, especially in Las Vegas, Foxwoods, and the Encore. He loved to say “Come on, Big Money” whenever he scratched his lottery tickets! He was very proud of his family and loved seeing his grandchildren and listening to all their accomplishments. He always asked them about school and work and loved hearing their stories. His youngest two grandchildren Dante and Angelina constantly brought a smile to their “Nono’s” face. He was so proud of them and often told them how smart they were!

As his health declined over the past year he maintained a positive attitude, still enjoyed brandy in his coffee in the morning, wine with his lunch and dinner, and brandy in his espresso at night. Over the past few months, his sister Elena and brother-in-law Louie were with him nearly every afternoon bringing him a homemade lunch which he enjoyed tremendously. They along with their mutual friend Anna DePasquale visited him many evenings to have bread, cheese, hot peppers, and a glass of wine with him. Many times followed by a cup of espresso with brandy of course! He will be remembered for his outgoing personality and the many friendships he made over the years.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours with Giuseppe’s family at the Dello Russo Family Funeral home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Wednesday, February 19th, from 4 to 7 PM.
