Joyce T. Sinagra of Century Village, Deerfield Beach, Florida, passed away at her home in Florida on January 25th. A native of Medford, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Bessie Abramo.
Joyce was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. As an accountant she worked for a variety of firms. Her last local employer before retirement was Copy Cop. She used her accounting skills in her volunteering for the Lake Todd Association in New Hampshire and on the board of Century Village in Deerfield Beach. Joyce made friends wherever she went, in and out of work. Friendship was very important to her, but her true labor of love was her family. She worked hard at being a mother and grandmother and received a lot of joy from doing so. Joyce drove her children (and later her grandson) to all their activities and was happy to encourage them in their achievements. She also enjoyed traveling with them around New England, getting to know different places. She loved the lakes and the mountains of New Hampshire, but later in life Florida beckoned. At first she would go down south just for the winters, but eventually she became a year round resident. Joyce had a soft spot in her heart for animals. She loved her dog Romulus, and her cats Angel and Fasb. She also adopted her son Stephen's dog Brandy and gave her a loving home.
Joyce was a devoted mother to Deirdra Taylor and Michael Kenealy and to the late Stephen M. Sinagra and his wife Caroline. She was a loving grandmother to Stephen R. Sinagra. She was a dear sister to Salvatore M. Abramo and his wife Catherine and to the late Nunzio C. Abramo and his late wife Lianne. She is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces, and friends in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Florida.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Friday, February 14 from 10 AM-12 Noon, followed by a memorial service in the funeral home at 12 Noon. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Joyce’s name to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241 or to the Animal Rescue League of Boston, 10 Chandler St, Boston, MA 02116.
