Obituary

Julia A. Brocklebank (Mortarelli) passed away at the Beaumont Skilled Nursing Center on January 17, 2025 at the age of 91 after a 6 year struggle with dementia. She formerly resided in Falmouth, Natick and Wellesley Massachusetts. She also spent nearly 50 summers in her slice of heaven, Ogunquit Maine.

Julia was pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 57 years Joseph L. Brocklebank who passed away in 2011. 

Julia leaves her four children Stephen J. Brocklebank and his wife Debra of Pocasset, Joan B. Coraccio of Somerville, Carol B. Bohan and her husband Gary of Upton and Julie B. Soohoo and her husband Norman of Franklin.

Julia was the grandmother of eight, William and Julianna Coraccio; Stephanie, Kimberly, and Nicole Bohan; Ryan, Christina, and Jennifer Soohoo. She was the eldest sibling of Constance Beekman, Esther Walker, Jean McCorry, and Dr. Paul Mortarelli. Julia is also survived by many nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.

Julia was a graduate of Wellesley High School class of 1951. She married Joseph in August 1954. She was a former employee of the Wellesley National Bank, a retired sales manager for Tupperware Home Parties, and the office manager for Sales Consultants. In her younger years she was a member of the Saint James Church Altar Society and Women’s Guild. She was a member of the Italo American Auxiliary Club. When she retired to Falmouth she was a member of the St. Elizabeth Seton Church Womens Guild and was also a wedding coordinator.

Julia always loved to create. She was a talented seamstress. She also loved to make photo albums, and she loved creating greeting cards. Julia loved to antique and often mentioned that she should have been an interior decorator. She always had an open home for her grandchildren and they were her pride and joy. Anyone who met Julia would certainly say she had the gift of gab. She touched everybody she met.

Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. (Rt.16) WELLESLEY, on Wednesday, January 29th at 9 AM, followed by Funeral Mass in St. Paul's Church, Wellesley, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Tuesday, January 28th from 4-7 PM. Julia will be laid to rest with her husband Joseph at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, which will be private.
