Michael Leo McLaughlin

Michael Leo McLaughlin, age 74, of Stoneham formerly of Woburn, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025, after a period of declining health. Born in Woburn, Michael was the son of the late Henry J. and Eunice (Marion) McLaughlin. Michael grew up in Woburn and attended Woburn High School. While still in high school, Michael began working for the United States Postal Service part-time. Upon graduating he immediately went to work at the post office full time in Woburn as a letter carrier for the next 27 years. This is where he met the love of his life, Josephine Picano of Stoneham. They soon married and have shared the last 37 years together. Michael was also employed by the MBTA as a Bus Driver in Lynn for 17 years.

Growing up he enjoyed playing and watching sports. He loved all sports, especially baseball and football. Michael was passionate and supportive of all his nieces and nephews playing sports, he was their biggest fan. He also enjoyed coaching softball for the Towanda League in Woburn. He was an avid bowler in Woburn and won a championship along with his brother, Henry J. McLaughlin. He loved golfing with his family and friends. Michael was a lifelong member of the Towonda Club of Woburn where he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was also a social member of the VFW of Winchester.

In addition to his beloved wife Josephine, Micheal is survived by his step children, Krystel Anderson and her fiancé James Cafarelli of Stoneham, and Paul Anderson of Groton, CT. He was the cherished brother of Jean Belt of Colorado, Susan McLaughlin of New Mexico, Patricia Dyer of Woburn, the late Henry J. McLaughlin and Gael McDonough. Uncle of the late Henry McLaughlin and is further survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins and friends.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Monday, January 20th, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a prayer service beginning at 11 a.m. Interment services will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Michael's memory to the American Heart Assoc. or the American Cancer Society.
