Rita M. (Raymond) Vaccaro

Rita M. (Raymond) Vaccaro, age 98, of Medford passed away on Thursday, January 2nd, at Bear Hill Nursing Center of Stoneham. Raised and educated in Charlestown, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Grace (O'Brien) Raymond. After marrying, Rita and her husband lived in Charlestown and Somerville before settling in Medford nearly 70 years ago. After raising her children, Rita was employed as administrative assistant at St. Clements High School. She was active in Ladies Sodality and prayer group at Sacred Heart Church in Medford. When that parish closed, Rita and her husband joined St. Raphael’s Parish and faithfully attended Mass. She continued to participate in prayer group at Immaculate Conception Church in Malden. In retirement, Rita enjoyed bowling and line dancing with her husband and hosting weekly family dinners. Most important to her was spending time with her family.

Rita was the beloved wife of the late Jerome “Jerry” Vaccaro, and the devoted mother of Jeanne Robertson and her husband Michael, Anne Carmella and her husband Jeff, John Vaccaro, Ken Vaccaro and his wife Nancy, and David Vaccaro and his wife Claudia. She was the loving grandmother of David, Mark and Kayla, and dear sister of Marie Romano and her husband Ben, and the late John and Nicholas Raymond. Rita is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford from 6 through 8 PM on Wednesday, January 8th, and again on Thursday, January 9th at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High St., Medford at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
