Kathleen A. (Ryan) Hennessy, age 84, a longtime resident of Winchester, passed away on January 4, 2025.
Born in the Bronx, New York, Kathleen was the daughter of the late William and Davina (Murdison) Ryan. She was raised and educated in the Bronx and was a graduate of Ascension High School.
Kathleen began working with McKellar & Platts in Manhattan and continued her long career as an Office Manager. She moved to Massachusetts in the early 1980’s and raised her children in Winchester.
A lifelong Yankees fan, she enjoyed cheering for the “Bronx Bombers” long after she moved into Red Sox territory. Her children remembered her as a great interior designer, who had a flair for furniture and design. She could always be found redecorating her home. She loved shopping the clearance and sale racks, and gifted many fun finds to her children. Above all, her family was everything. She loved spending time with them, especially her grandchildren.
Kathleen is lovingly survived by her children: William M. Stroud and his wife Theresa of Woodcliff Lake, NJ, Stacy A. Murray and her husband Teddy of Naples, FL, Michael J. Hennessy of Winchester and Kerry A. Doughty and her husband Scott of Salem, NH. She was the devoted grandmother of Danielle M. Stroud, Ryan A. Stroud, Jackson R. Doughty, Connor G. Doughty and Gavin E. Doughty, the dear sister of William Ryan of Yonkers, NY and the late Loretta Shea, Barbara Sneyers, James Ryan, Davina Dennis and Thomas Ryan, and is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held at the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester on Monday, January 6 from 2-4PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association https://www.alz.org/manh.
