Marsel “Mihalis” Bica passed away peacefully at Brigham and Women’s Hospital on December 13th surrounded by his loving family at the age of thirty-seven. A native of Korçë, Albania, Mihalis was the devoted son of Petraq and Ludmilla (Sassa) Bica and brother to Ina Bica.
Mihalis was a loving son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend. Growing up on the coast of Greece, he developed a lifelong love of the outdoors. He spent his youth hiking, fishing and swimming. After coming to the United States as an adult in 2018, he settled in Chelsea and was employed at Home Depot as a warehouse equipment operator. In his free time, Mihalis loved to travel and had a wide range of interests, including music, computers and film. Mihalis enjoyed good food, conversation and companionship with those dear to him. His good nature, enthusiasm, and passion for life was a joy for those around him. His love, strength and courage will forever live in our hearts and he will be profoundly missed.
In addition to his immediate family, Mihalis is survived by his maternal grandparents, Dhimitri and Vasilla Sassa, as well as his aunts Dhurata Tarusha, Nikoleta McTigue, Liljana Sassa, uncle Piro Sassa and many cousins.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday, December 19 from 4-8 PM. Mihalis’ funeral will be from the funeral home on Friday, December 20 at 9 AM, followed by the Divine Liturgy at Dormition of the Virgin Mary Church, 29 Central St., Somerville at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
