Rita M. Vallerand, 86, of Quincy, MA, passed away peacefully at AccentCare Hospice in Milton, MA, on November 6, 2024, after a number of months of failing health.
Growing up in Dorchester, she was the tomboy of the family. Rita worked many years in the high-end restaurant industry, where her customers loved her. She had a sharp wit and a great sense of humor—a “hot ticket.” She loved having a few drinks with friends, and she made a “mean” pork roast.
She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be missed by many.
She is survived by her sister, Doris Desmond, of Quincy, MA, who she grew up with; her sister Cynthia Freedman Stowe of Bedford, NH; and her nephew Gregory Desmond of Lowell, MA.
No services will be held at this time. Rita was an avid animal lover, and donations can be made in her memory to either of her two favorite charities: the ASPCA or the Best Friends Animal Society. Any messages for the family can be made through Casper Funeral Services, South Boston, MA.
