William Francis “Billy” Merlino
William Francis “Billy” Merlino, 63, of South Boston, MA, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Boston, MA, Billy was a beloved son of the late Anthony Joseph Merlino and Florence Merlino Giammalvo. He was a devoted husband to the late Judy Merlino. Billy is survived by his loving brothers, Anthony Merlino and his wife Michelle, Michael Merlino, and Hugh Merlino. He was predeceased by his brother, Paul Merlino.
Billy was a skilled union roofer and a talented barber, often styling the hair of his friends and family. He was an avid golfer and poker player, having competed in numerous World Series of Poker tournaments.
Known for his kind and generous spirit, Billy was always lending a hand, always willing to help. He was a true friend, loyal and supportive. His infectious laughter and warm smile brought joy to those around him.
Family meant everything to Billy. His love and support were unwavering, a constant presence in the lives of those he cherished.
Billy will be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews, and his loyal companion, Finn. His legacy of love, kindness, and humor will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Visitation will be held at Casper Funeral Home 187 Dorchester Street South Boston, Wednesday, November 6th 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM. A Mass will be held at St. Monica’s Church 331 Old Colony Ave. South Boston on Thursday, November 7th 10:00 AM
