Archibald Lee Hickman III, Lee to family and friends, passed away on October 2, 2024. Lee was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on March 20, 1942. He earned a bachelor’s degree at California State University Northridge.
After graduating, Lee pursued an accounting career specializing in the health care industry culminating in his position as CEO of the Ventura Visiting Nurses Association.
An avid golfer, he supported this hobby by working as a caddy in high school, and became a fan of sports in general. Lee started collecting baseball cards, stamps, coins as a child, but these gateway collections blossomed into a wide range of collections over his life. Lee’s main collecting interests included ball caps and Olympic memorabilia and artifacts. He also enjoyed creating long stitch pictures from kits. Over the years, Lee displayed many of his creations, as well as selections from his Olympic collection, in competitions in the Ventura County fair, and he took pride in the many ribbons he won.
Lee also served for decades as a River Ridge Fairways Housing Association board member including several terms as president.
Lee is survived by June, his wife of 54 years, his children Joel, Tamra, and Christopher, his brothers Laurence, Thomas, and James, his grandchildren Elizabeth, Dawson, and Lexus, his great granddaughter June, and his cousins Claudia, Carolyn, and Don, Jr.
We will all deeply miss Lee for his compassion, generosity, antics, stories, advice, and unique examples.
Per Lee’s request, there will be no services.
