Blanche Kathleen Cleveland (Studley) of Hanover passed away on October 21, 2024 at the age of 86. Daughter of the late Winifred K Howes (Andrew, Studley) and the late Gardiner Bates Studley, WW2 Veteran. She was also the step daughter of the late Leonard E Howes Sr. Blanche was raised in Weymouth and lived in Hanover for many years.
She is survived by her children David Cleveland Jr, Carolyn Cleveland, Sandra Yetsook and Peter Cleveland. Her beloved grandchildren Cody Cleveland, Charles Souza and his partner Allison Davidson, Andrew Souza, Mary Yetsook and her partner Justin Thompson, Maximilian Yetsook, Jamie Yetsook and her great grandchildren Alden Thompson and Lachlan Thompson. Her sister Lorna O’Connell, nephew Scott O’Connell and wife Sarah and was predeceased by her brother Leonard E Howes Jr. and brother in law Michael O’Connell, and many more nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her dear lifelong friend Shirley Webber and cherished Jack Russell pup, Honey Bee.
Blanche was a brilliant artist throughout her life, capturing beauty on paper and canvas. She was active in her church, and was a member of Church Hill United Methodist Church in Norwell, where she was part of the WANA Group. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved the beach and the ocean, always searching for sea glass, rocks and pretty shells. She also loved being out on the water, sailing,
rowing the dory and swimming. She was a wonderful dancer and participated in many dance competitions. If she was in earshot of a catchy tune at any time or place, she would spontaneously break out into dance. She loved to travel and was fortunate to visit Europe, Hawaii, cruised the Panama Canal and many parts of the US. She loved animals. Most of the pets in her life found her instead of the other way around. Strays always knew she was a safe refuge.
We will all remember her intelligence, knowledge of trivia, patriotism, the relaxed way she had of living her life, her natural wit and certainly her practical jokes. Most of all though, we will remember her generosity and kindness. Her greatest joy in life were her children, grandchildren, friendships and pets.
A graveside service will be held for family and close friends. To honor her love of animals, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Standish Humane Society in Duxbury.
