Michael G. Hastings, Sr., age 76 years, passed away peacefully at Plymouth Hospital on Friday, October 11, 2024. He was the beloved husband of the late Joan (McCarthy) Hastings, he didn’t have another relationship after losing the love of his life. The son of the late Albert and Wilma E. (Lyons) Hastings, born in Boston on August 8, 1948, he worked for General Dynamics at the Quincy Shipyard as a welder for many years. His current job is at Upham’s Elder services, he is the lead van driver, which he enjoyed interacting with the staff and participants for over 26 years. Michael was a very hard-working and generous man, with a heart of gold a great sense of humor. He enjoyed watching the games for the local Boston teams, the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins. He also enjoyed listening to Motown music on the weekends, he also enjoyed cooking meals for his family, especially on holidays and Sundays. Michael reached his goal of purchasing a home and which he enjoyed feeding the birds and watching them from his seat near the window. Michael had five children, Michael (deceased) Lisa and her Fiancé Richard, William, Steven, Julie and her husband David of Dedham. He was the brother of Joanne, Linda, Candace, Norman, Lance and Paul (deceased) and Karen (deceased). Michael left behind many nieces, nephews, Grandchildren, great grandchildren and many dear friends.
A celebration of life will be held at Casper’s funeral home, 187 Dorchester Street, S. Boston, MA 02127 on Sunday, Oct 27 from 1:00-3:00 P.M.
