Obituary

O’CONNOR, Anne Walsh of North Falmouth, formerly of Dedham, October 15, 2024.

Anne passed peacefully at home after a brief illness surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Boston to loving parents Edna (Sweeney) Walsh and William John Walsh. She was predeceased by her son John F. O’Connor, III, and her loving husband Jack, to whom she was married for 55 years.

She leaves behind her siblings Edna Barry, Gerry Walsh, & Patricia Padden. Her children William (Susan) of Mashpee, Stephen (Margot) of Amherst, Mary-Jeanne Manning (Mark) of Dedham, Kathleen Hayes (Jim) of Weymouth, Michael (Jane) of Foxboro, & Daniel (Beth) of Brookline. She was a loving “Gram” to her grandchildren: Jimmy, Brendan, Connor, Erin, Ryan, Liam, Julia, Michael, Matthew, John, Olivia, Caitlin, Jack, Katie, Claire, Lizzie, Mason and great grandson Gavan.

She was also predeceased by her parents Edna and William, her siblings Kathleen Herman, Mary-Jeanne Mason and William J. Walsh, Jr.

She graduated from Brookline High School and the Faulkner Hospital School of Nursing. She met the love of her life, Jack, while in nursing school. They married on June 15, 1957. Together they had seven children and resided in Dedham eventually moving to Westwood. They spent their summers in North Falmouth, where they created a community that was their extended family.

Anne was a true caregiver, including caring for her own family, extended family and many friends. After raising her own children, she became a foster mother to 39 foster children. She cared for and loved those children like her own. In her later years she began volunteer work for the Falmouth Service Center which brought her great joy and new friendships.

Anne, who went by Gram after becoming a grandmother, was a person who made sure to let you know how special you were. She had the talent of making people feel like they were the most important person in the room.

Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., Dedham on Friday, Oct. 18 from 4-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Mary’s Church, Dedham on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the Falmouth Service Center, 611 Gifford St., Falmouth, MA 02540.
