Alice L. (Fournier) Pelc

SOUTH HADLEY – Alice L. (Fournier) Pelc, 85, of South Hadley, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, October 3, 2024. She passed into Eternal Life at the Pioneer Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center in South Hadley surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on June 10, 1939, the daughter of the late Edmond H. Fournier and Jeannette M. (Turcotte) Lapointe. She was raised by her dear grandparents, Joseph and Lydia Fournier. She was educated in Holyoke and moved to South Hadley where she lived for most of her life. She was the longtime Head Cashier at the former Food Mart in South Hadley and retired in 1976. She previously was employed at J.J. Newbury’s and W. T. Grant’s, both in Holyoke. Active in her Catholic faith, she was a longtime communicant of Saint Anthony of Padua Church where she actively cleaned and took care of her beloved church and was currently a communicant at Saint Anne Church, both in Chicopee. Most of all, she took great pride in raising and caring for her family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, George E. Pelc who was Called Home on October 10, 2008. They were married on December 31, 1956 at Saint Anne Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 51 years of happiness together. She leaves her two loving and devoted children, Teresa M. Tarbox and her husband, Brian, of West Granby, CT, and George E. Pelc, Jr. of South Hadley; her dear brother, Brian R. Lapointe of Westfield; her cherished niece and goddaughter, Shawnalee Lopez and her husband, Arturo Lopez, of San Antonio, TX and their children, Tatiana Lopez and Javier Lopez who were her cherished grandniece and grandnephew; her nephew, Travis Underwood and his wife, Heidi; her “adopted son,” Patrick Chikezie and children ‘Chi-Chi’ (Chizeron) and ‘Dalu’ (Chidalu) and their mother, Adaku Chikezie; and her many dear cousins, friends, and extended family members. In addition to her grandparents, parents and husband, she was predeceased by her dear sister, Darlene Keeney who was Called Home on April 12, 2018. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, 152 Pittroff Avenue, South Hadley, MA 01075. There are no visiting hours. Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 or the South Hadley Senior Center/ Council on Aging or the Dakin Humane Society.
