It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paula (Bianco) Grimes on October 7, 2024, at the age of 79, after a courageous battle with cancer. She transitioned surrounded by her loving family. Paula was a beacon of kindness and warmth, cherished by all who knew her.
Paula graduated from Watertown High School in 1963 then went on to earn an Elementary Teaching Certificate from Perry Normal School. She dedicated the early years of her career to teaching in Derry, NH, and then moved to St. Peter's in Cambridge. Later, she chose to focus on raising her children and sharing her gift for nurturing with other lucky children in her home daycare.
Paula enjoyed gardening, baking, and decorating her house for every holiday. She also loved riding on her husband's motorcycle and traveling with their motorcycle group - The Old Fart Riders.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 56 years, Tom Grimes of Dedham, her son Tom Grimes, Jr. of Attleboro, and her daughter Jen Bruno & her husband Jim of Westwood. Paula was a proud and beloved grandmother to Lily & Gianna Bruno and Roman & Rebecca Grimes. Paula is also survived by her brother John Bianco & his wife Marylou of Watertown, her sister Maria Cormier & her husband Will of North Reading, and her many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary & Tony Bianco, and her sister, Madeline Snook.
Visitation will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High Street, Dedham, MA on Monday, October 14, from 3-7 pm. Her funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, October 15, starting from the funeral home at 9 am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 420 High Street, Dedham, MA at 10 am. Interment in St. Patrick's cemetery, Watertown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Paula may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Paula Grimes will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, whose legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those who had the privilege to know her.
