Maria Tereza DeCarvalho Djevalikian, 77, from Waltham, Massachusetts passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024. She died peacefully, gracefully and surrounded by her loved ones after a brave and enduring battle with Cancer.
Maria Tereza was born in São Paulo, Brazil on January 19, 1947 to Dalila Pereira da Motta and José de Carvalho. She worked as a legal and medical Portuguese interpreter, and volunteered in the Catholic Church, Armenian and surrounding communities. She had a love for politics and was a ward councilor in Waltham for many years. Above all, She was an extremely devoted mother, grandmother, and sister. She was known for her kind, loving and selfless generosity.
She is Survived by her Children: Bernard Aaron and his wife Natalie Aaron; Gina DiDuca and her husband Nicholas DiDuca; and Alex Djevalikian, her siblings: Maria Bernadete de Carvalho and José Cassio de Carvalho. Also, The Father of her children, Bernard Djevalikian. Most importantly, she is survived by her beautiful grandchildren: Marcus, Christian, Isabella, Gabriel and one more on the way. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings: Maria Luisa de Carvalho and José Roberto de Carvalho.
Throughout her life and especially during her hardships she carried many virtues of faith, humility, prudence and fortitude. She was a warrior at heart and strived for her beliefs. She continuously showed unconditional love for her family and those she was surrounded by.
Please join us in celebrating Maria Tereza’s life and legacy. She will be deeply missed but forever in our hearts. We pray that soon she will be praying and helping us from heaven with the angels and the saints.
Funeral and wake service to celebrate Maria Tereza’s life:
Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home at 1305 Highland Ave. Needham, Ma on Monday, October 7th from 4-8pm.
Funeral will start at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 8th at 9:30am, followed by a Funeral Mass at Mary Immaculate of Lourdes Church in Newton, Ma at 10:30am. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Needham, Ma.
