Thomas F. Gannon, Jr., of Winchester formerly of Arlington and Medford, died Thursday October 3, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was 84 years of age. He was the beloved husband of Catherine M. (Carroll) Gannon.
Tom was born in Boston to the late Thomas F. Gannon Sr. and Nora Cecelia (O’Hara) Gannon. He was raised and educated in Medford and graduated from Malden Catholic High School. After high school Tommy continued his education at Boston College earning his Master’s Degree in Business. He served his country proudly as a member of the US Army during the Korean Era earning the rank of Captain. Tom worked for IBM as a project manager for over 30 years. He was an avid runner, competing in 39 consecutive Boston Marathons and numerous NYC marathons.
Tom’s family was the most important part of his life. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren and all they’ve accomplished. In addition to his wife, he is lovingly survived by his children: Linda McMakin and her husband Pat of Merrimack, NH, Thomas Gannon and his wife Sarah of Winchester, Elizabeth Hebb and her husband Andy of Norwood, Christopher Gannon and his wife Magdalena of Winchester, Patrick Gannon and his wife Abigail of Needham. He was the devoted grandfather of Mary Kate, Brigid, Siobhan and Nora McMakin, Coleman Hebb, Nolan, Leo and Maeve Gannon, Callan and Finn Gannon, the dear brother of Eileen Moore and her husband John of Winchester and the late Kathy Faulkner and her late husband Clyde, brother-in-law of Linda and Dave MacDougal, Judy Toland and her late husband Fran, Tom Carroll and his wife Ann. He was also the cherished uncle of Colleen and Mike Smith, Mary and Kenny Toland, Barbie White, Chip and Sharon Faulkner, Jay and Diane Moore, Tom and Amy Moore, Tom and Jessica Parker.
Funeral from the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester on Thursday Oct. 10th at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester at 10AM. Visiting Hours will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-8PM. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
