Daniel F. Yauckoes, husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2024. Born on July 10, 1946, Dan was the son of the late John F. and Ruth (Sullivan) Yauckoes and grew up in Bedford, MA. He graduated from UMass Amherst and served in the Air National Guard of Massachusetts from 1969 to 1975. He lived in Chelmsford, MA for 48 years where he raised his family. He spent his professional life working as an engineer in the telecom industry at Nynex and Verizon, where he made a lasting impact through his hard work and dedication. He continued to be involved with the Pioneers, a telecom volunteer network, until his passing.
Known for his quiet, contemplative nature, Dan had a gentle presence and a deep appreciation for nature. Whether he was fishing, or camping with his family, he found peace and fulfillment in these pastimes. He especially enjoyed tinkering with mechanical objects which included refurbishing an antique tractor as well as building a gazebo and extensions to his home in Chelmsford.
Dan is survived by his wife, Leslie (Nadeau) Yauckoes, his son, Michael Yauckoes and his wife Joanna (Landivar) Yauckoes, his daughter Meredith (Yauckoes) Alba and her husband Victor Alba, and four grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Charles Yauckoes, Charles' partner Beth Gallant, his sister Susan Yauckoes, and his sister-in-law Maureen Yauckoes. He was predeceased by his brother John Yauckoes.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Friday, October 4th at First Parish UU Church in Chelmsford, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Salvation Army of Lowell, a charity close to Dan’s heart.
Rest in peace, Dan
