Our beloved Maria Sanchez, 67, peacefully passed away on July 17th, 2024, at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle. Maria was born on April 27th, 1957, to Rafael and Amelia Fuentes in Colima, Mexico. At the age of 20 she came to the United States where she met her husband Antonio Sanchez whom she married on December 24th, 1985. they made their home in Prosser, WA where they raised there 7 children. Maria enjoyed spending time with family, sewing ,shopping, playing candy crush on her phone but her passion was in cooking. Those that knew maria would tell you she had a heart of gold. She would help any and every person she knew resulting in strangers becoming family. Maria was a caregiver for 24 years and attended St. Mathews Episcopal church. She is survived by her mother Amelia Fuentes (Mexico), her loving husband Antonio Sanchez Sr (Prosser) daughters Guadalupe Sanchez, Lina (Mike) Pena, Rose Sanchez, Amelia (Jesus) Perez all from Prosser, Maggie (Cameron) Halderman of Grandview and her bonus daughter Maria Benitez of Sunnyside and her son Josue Sanchez of Prosser, as well as 16 grandkids, 5 great grandkids numerous siblings, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Rafael Fuentes, sister Alma Fuentes, her son Juanito Padilla-Fuentes, her son who she cared for and took half her heart Antonio Sanchez Jr and her grandson Rudy Pena. Visitation will be held on Thursday July25th at 4pm at the Prosser funeral home. her funeral will take place on Friday July 26th at 10 am at the Grandview Catholic Church followed by graveside at the Prosser cemetery. Maria will be truly missed by everyone.
