Wilfred G. Gallien, Jr., 83, of Marblehead passed away at NSMC / Salem Hospital on Sunday, July 7, 2024 following a long illness. He was the devoted husband of Darlene A. (Burke) Gallien with whom he shared 34 years of marriage.
Born in Boscawen, NH, and raised in Lynn, he was the son of the late Wilfred G. and Doris (Sullivan) Gallien. Will first worked for the Boston Globe as a machinist for several years. For most of his career he was employed in sales and as a comptroller for the Wayne Alarm Company. Following his retirement, he joined his wife in the operation of North Shore Fruit Basket and Flowers by Darlene.
Will was a lover of vintage/classic cars and was a member of the Marblehead Old Car Club. He also enjoyed flying motorized model airplanes. Most of all, he enjoyed time spent with family and friends at their place in Maine.
Will was a member and former president of the Salem Kiwanis Club and prior to his failing health, a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Swampscott.
In addition to his wife Darlene, he is survived by his daughter, Colette Siegle and husband Mark of Methuen and their children Lauren & Billy Beliveau and their grandchildren, Step-son, John F. Reardon and wife Melissa of Marblehead and their sons, John & Charles, daughter, Natalia E, Harrell and husband Jason of Norfolk, VA and their son Jaxon. He also leaves his sister, Betty Brennan of Peabody, and was predeceased by his sister Carol Claffey.
Family and friends are invited to his Mass of Christian Burial in St. John the Evangelist Church, 176 Humphrey St., Swampscott, MA on Monday, July 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM preceded by an hour of visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a memorial contribution to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105 or the Boston Children’s Hospital, 301 Park Dr., Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215.
