Joseph H. McQuaid, aged 86, of West Roxbury, MA., formerly of Trillick, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, passed away peacefully at home on July 5, 2024.
He is survived by his devoted wife Mary and his adoring children and spouses, Joseph Kevin (Susan) of Valrico, Fl., John of Roslindale, MA., Kathy Cronin (Bobby) of Franklin, MA., James Michael (Erin) of West Roxbury, MA. Loving “Papa Joe” to his six grandchildren Caitlyn Nelson (Tommy), Julia McQuaid, Dan, Sean, and Grace Cronin, and Trevor McQuaid.
Known fondly as “Hugo” to his siblings Roseleen McGowan, Bernadette Slevin, Conor McQuaid, Kathleen Carson all of Northern Ireland. As well as Leo McQuaid and Maurice McQuaid of Ireland. He is also survived by many caring nieces and nephews. Joe is predeceased by his parents William and Catherine and brothers Eugene McQuaid and Cahal McQuaid all of Northern Ireland.
Joe was a veteran of the USAF and retired Deputy Chief of the Brookline Fire Department and he was also a lifetime member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge #10.
Visiting Hours at the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St., West Roxbury on Wednesday, July 10th from 9-10:30am followed by a service in the funeral home at 10:30am. Interment Mt.
