Eileen (O’Brien) Fitzpatrick
6/21/2024

FITZPATRICK, Eileen (O’Brien) of Forestdale, formerly of West Roxbury, passed away on June 21, 2024 after a brief, yet courageous battle with Ovarian Cancer. She was 66 years young. Beloved wife of James Fitzpatrick. Devoted mother of James M. Fitzpatrick of Madison, WI, Katy Ann FitzGerald and her husband Desmond of Scituate. Dear sister of Ann Rocco and her husband Sam of Winchester, Dennis O’Brien of North Conway, NH, Diane Ducie and her husband Kevin of Sandwich, Elizabeth O’Brien of Plymouth, Mary O’Brien of Roslindale, Christine Poeschl and her husband Van of Halifax, Richard O’Brien and his wife Carolyn of West Roxbury, Michael O’Brien and his wife Mary Beth of West Roxbury. Loving grandmother of Seamus FitzGerald, Bridget Fitzpatrick, and her grandpup, Newman. She is also survived by 35 nieces and nephews and nearly a dozen in-laws.

Born on November 9, 1957 in East Boston, MA to Richard and Beatrice O’Brien (Miraldi), Eileen spent the majority of her life in West Roxbury, moving to Quincy after meeting her husband in 1977 for a brief period before eventually settling on Cape Cod in 1986.

While she held different administrative positions for several companies in her life, her true calling was to be a mom. Eileen embodied the truest definition of being a supportive parent, attending every single basketball game, skating competition or track meet for her children with unwavering pride and support. She loved volunteering for the Shamrock Shootout, Bourne Skating Club, Skating Club of Boston and Cape Cod BMX, just to name a few. Anyone who knew Eileen knows how talented she was with graphic design and was the first to offer her services whenever anyone needed them. After designing her daughter’s wedding invitations in 2017, she uncovered yet another talent of hers, helping brides all over New England up until her diagnosis.

Eileen was never one to turn down the opportunity for a weekend getaway with her daughter, and the two made it a point to take several trips annually. The highlight of her year was the O’Brien Family Camping Trip to the Waterest Campground in Woodstock, NH. For years, Eileen thought her happy place was Menauhant Beach in Falmouth with a Lobster Roll in hand. That all changed when she became a grandmother. In reality, Eileen was truly happiest when spending time with her grandchildren, no matter the time nor the place. She will be with them always.

Visiting Hours and a Memorial Service will be held in the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St., WEST ROXBURY, on Tuesday, July 2nd from 10:00 am-12:00 pm.
