Obituary

Kevin J. Kendrick, the son of the late Dr. Thomas and Elizabeth Kendrick, and brother to his nine close siblings passed away after a short illness on May 30, 2024 surrounded by family and friends at the Vermont Veteran’s Home in Bennington, Vermont.

Kevin was a proud 20 year veteran of the United States Army where he earned the rank of E6-Sergeant. He carried out his military duty in the United States, Europe, and Guam-- and he had many colorful stories of his time there. He spoke in detail about the antics of his fellow soldiers, the scenery in the area, and all of the wonderful people he encountered during his time in the Army.

Kevin graduated from Westwood (MA) High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army. Many of his acquaintances commented there was no bigger Boston Bruins fan than Kevin, who could often be found watching live games or re-broadcasted games in his Bruins shirts, caps, and other regalia. Second only to the Bruins was his love of the TV series MASH. He had seen every episode and could pick up the story line no matter what episode he found himself in. Kevin loved his family, fishing, trucks, boats, square dancing, and most of all…humor. He loved to laugh, and he loved to make others laugh, and so all his life he was a major prankster. Wherever Kevin happened to be he could make the people around him laugh at his silly jokes.

He is survived by his 9 siblings: Dr. Charles Kendrick of Braintree, MA (Eneida), Kathy Whitley of Fort Myers, FL (Jeff), Dr. Kareen Worrell of New Castle, NH (Pete) , Kerry Carbone, Walpole, MA (Tony), Keith Kendrick, Framingham, MA, Kris Kendrick, Land-O-Lakes, FL (Macy), Kurt Kendrick, Norwood, MA (Lisa), Kara Kendrick, Lempster, NH, Kim Kendrick of Merrimack, NH and over fifty nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces.

The Funeral Mass and burial will be private, for family.

The entire Kendrick Family would like to thank all of the professional staff, volunteers, and the Veteran residents of the Vermont Veteran’s Home for their tireless generosity and loving care of Kevin. He always felt so lucky to have found you. We deeply appreciate the massively important work you do with Veterans, and we will never forget you or your kindness. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Kevin’s honor directly to the Vermont Veteran’s Home, 325 North Street, Bennington, Vermont 05201, c/o Asa Whitcomb 802-447-6510.
