Reynold L. “Ray” “Buddy” Brown, Jr., age 78, a resident of Winchester for over 50 years, passed away on May 25, 2024, after complications with several recent illnesses. He was the beloved husband for almost 58 years of Ellen F. “Ellie” (FitzGerald) Brown.
Born in Boston, Reynold was the son of the late Reynold L. and Mary A. (Dillon) Brown. Buddy, as he was affectionately known, was raised and educated in Weston and was a graduate of Weston High School with the class of 1963. He attended UMass Amherst and graduated with a degree in Landscape Architecture in 1965.
Buddy spent the majority of his career working in Food Service with restaurant giants Friendly’s, Brigham’s and Kraft Food Service. In retirement, and never one to be idle, he spent 20 years driving for Boston Coach. In his spare time, he could be found doing home projects, golfing and several years ago he played softball with “Lil’s Boys” in Weston. He followed all sports and was particularly an avid Red Sox fan. He could also be found cheering on his grandchildren at their various sporting events. For many years Buddy enjoyed being a part of the Winton Club Stage Crew building sets for the annual Cabaret. Summers were spent at the family cottage in Popham Beach, Maine. Buddy loved time with his large extended family particularly with Ellie's twin brothers Sandy and Duncan, and their families. He also enjoyed vacationing in Marco Island, Florida.
In addition to his wife, Ellie, Buddy is lovingly survived by his children: Lisa D’Alessio and her late husband Joe, of Reading, Gregory Brown and his wife Leah of Andover. He was the devoted grandfather of Michael D’Alessio, Jill D’Alessio, Jackson Brown, Lily Brown, and the dear brother of Marilyn Kelleher and her husband Paul of Falmouth, MA, Kathryn Brown and her husband Richard Klosterman of Hudson, OH.
