WAYLAND: Katharine “Kay” (Toland) Quinn, 94, died peacefully and comfortably at her residence in Wayland on Friday, February 24, 2017 following a period of declining health.
She was born in Wayne, Pennsylvania on January 18, 1923 the daughter of the late James Toland and Marie (Kennedy) Toland. Kay was the beloved wife for 52 years of the late John J. Quinn who died on February 13, 1998. Kay was the devoted and loving mother of Pat Hayden and her husband Hap Hayden of Amelia Island, Florida; Barb Quinn, RSCJ of Newton; Peter Quinn of Salem; John Quinn and his wife Wilma Quinn of Wakefield; Bob Quinn and his wife Lisa Quinn of Plymouth; and Nancy Lagasse and her husband Kevin Lagasse of Hopkinton. She was the cherished grandmother 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late John “Jack” Toland. She spent her formative years in Wayne, Pennsylvania and received her BA from Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1977, she and her family moved to Wayland and resided here until 1995. In 1995, Kay moved to Lincoln and returned to Wayland in 2015. Kay was an avid gardener and enjoyed playing bridge and golf. She truly loved her work as a volunteer at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and was a Senior Associate. Kay was known for her kindness and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was devoted to her entire family and will be fondly remembered by all who had the opportunity to know her. Visitations will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00 in the Chapel of Good Shepherd Parish at St. Ann’s Church, 124 Cochituate Road (Rte. 27), Wayland. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am followed by interment in the Quinn family lot in Lincoln Cemetery, Lexington Road, Lincoln. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that you consider a gift to the charity of your choice in Kay’s memory. |
