SMITH, Stewart Newman, 82, of Boynton Beach, Florida and Lincoln, Massachusetts, formerly of Centerville, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on July 14, 2014 surrounded by family. He was a dedicated family-man and avid golfer.
Stewart was born in White Plains, New York on September 7, 1931. He graduated from Scarsdale High School, attended a two-year business program at Nichols College and went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from University of New Hampshire. Stewart worked as a Senior Executive for Uniroyal Tire Company, where he held various positions over his 34 year career. Stewart was an Eagle Scout and served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955.
Stewart was married to Marilyn McCoy on June 29, 1957 and they recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. Stewart is survived by his wife Marilyn, daughter Susan Glovsky and her husband Robert Glovsky of Boston, Massachusetts; daughter Patricia Bengtson and her husband Kevin Bengtson of Framingham, Massachusetts and son James Smith and his wife Nora Smith of Sherborn, Massachusetts. Grandchildren, David, Michael, Caroline and Andrew Glovsky; Stewart and Mary Jo Smith. His brother Stephen Smith his wife Dorothy Smith of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Nieces Stephanie Smith and Robin Hewitt of Ohio. Stewart is preceded in death by his mother Mary Jo Smith and father George W. Smith, Jr.
The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, 142 Lincoln Road, Lincoln, Massachusetts on Thursday July 17th at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Father MacKay will be officiating. Interment private. Funeral arrangements are being handled by George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington Street, Wellesley, Massachusetts.
