Paul E. Buss, age 85, died on Friday, December 26, 2003 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford. Paul was born in Somerville on March 1, 1918 a son to the late Royal E. and Gertrude M. (Savage) Buss. He was the loving husband of Dorothy M. “Dottie” Selfridge-Buss of Medford.Paul was employed as a conductor for the B & M Railroad for 40 years until his retirement in 1979. Mr. Buss was a veteran of the Army during World War II, while serving Paul was wounded 3 times in Lunenburg after which he received a Purple Heart, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, American Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Victory Medal.A resident of Medford for 50 years and a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, Paul was a wonderful, caring, generous being whose boundaries were unlimited. Paul was a true philanthropist, active in the local food pantry and has donated money to St. Joseph’s Church for a organ and one could usually see Paul as an alter server at St. Joseph’s 8:00 a.m. daily Mass. He has also donated to the Wesley United Methodist Church were his late wife Florence was a member. He was a member of A.A.R.P. and a volunteer for the Council on Aging; Paul was also a member of the Somerville Lodge of Elks for 60 years (94th Division). Paul leaves his beloved wife, Dorothy M. “Dottie” Selfridge-Buss of Medford, and 21 nieces and nephews to mourn his passing.He was the former husband of the late Florence E. (Mealy) Buss.Funeral from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Monday, December 29, 2003, at 8 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Joseph’s Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours, Sunday, December 28, 2003 from 2 to 6 p.m. Interment, Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Donations in Paul’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
