Lucy E.(Kirby) Hancock, 96, of Westport died Sunday, February 1, 2009 at Southpointe Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center. She was the wife of the late James W. Hancock, Sr.
Born in Fall River daughter of the late Clifford H. and Lillian L. (Sanford) Kirby she had been a life long resident of Westport.
Prior to her retirement she had been a stitcher at various mills throughout Fall River. Mrs. Hancock loved gardening and cooking. She was a member of the Westport Senior Citizens and attended the Westport Council on Aging. She is survived by 2 sons: James W. Hancock, Jr. and his wife Jeanne of Westport and Clifford A. Hancock of Tiverton; a daughter: Lucy E. Mattos of Newport; 15 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Phyllis Anctil, grandmother of the late Clifford A. Hancock, Jr. and sister of the late Hazel Davis, Clifford Kirby and Lillian Medeiros.
Funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at the POTTER FUNERAL HOME, 81 Reed Road, Westport.
Visitation will be Wednesday morning 9 to 10:00 A.M. one hour prior to the service.
