New York - Irving F. “John” Tripp, 80, of Westport and Endicott, NY, passed away Saturday morning, June 23, 2007, after a short illness. He was the husband of Eileen D. (Cox) Tripp.
He was the son of the late Frederick L. and Freda (Goodell) Tripp. Mr. Tripp graduated from Northeastern University in 1950 and moved to Endicott, NY. He retired from IBM Endicott in 1982 after 32 years of service and retired from F.L. Tripp & Sons Marina of Westport after 10 years of service. He spent his retirement (winters) in Bradenton, FL and summers in Westport. Most mornings, regardless of where he was, he was fishing on one of his boats, the “Seven T’s” or the “Seven T’s-2”. Most evenings, he spent working on a variety of projects and hobbies in his “shop”.
Including his loving wife, he is survived by 5 children: Marjorie J. McCoy and her husband Thomas of Johnson City, NY, Barbara E. Barcak and her husband John of Johnson City, NY, Donald A. Tripp and his wife Julie of Honeoye Falls, NY, Kenneth A. Tripp and his wife Teri of Munich, Germany and James L. Tripp and his wife Lauren of Huntington Beach, CA; 4 grandchildren: Thomas W. McCoy, Jr., Bryan M. McCoy and his wife Maggie, J. Michael Barcak and his wife Lisa and J. Matthew Barcak and 1 great granddaughter: Eryn E. McCoy.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful people at James G. Johnston Memorial Nursing Home, for their support and care, during his final days.
Memorial Service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at the Potter Funeral Home at 11:30 A.M.
Calling hours will be from 10 - 11:30 A.M. prior to the service.
Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
