Obituary

BUXTON- Steven Lawrence Townsend of Buxton, Maine, age 56 passed away on the evening of May 1, 2024, unexpectedly at his home. He was born in Portland, Maine March 26, 1968, son to Erlon and Margaret Townsend. After his attendance at Bonny Eagle high school, Steve went on to enlist in the US Army where he obtained the rank of Sergeant, A non-commissioned officer. After his completion of his obligation, he spent the rest of his career in public service, including various law enforcement agencies, corrections, and fire and rescue. At the time of his passing Steve was employed as a police officer at Kennebunkport Police Department. He spent the majority of his free time farming at his home in Buxton, Maine alongside his good friend Mike Pulsoni and his wife Kiristen Pulsoni . He enjoyed many outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing. His legacy is carried on by his eldest son Brett Sawyer and Wife Amber Sawyer and their son Steve’s Grandson, Nash Steven Sawyer, and his youngest son Zane Townsend and his girlfriend Shanna Googins. Steve is survived by his mother- Peggy; and three siblings, Andy Townsend, Linda Townsend, and Tony Townsend.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday May 16th, from 12 - 2 PM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton. Following the visiting hours, a graveside service will be held at South Buxton (Tory Hill) Cemetery.
