Obituary


Martin Srugis, 72, of Londonderry, NH, died Tuesday, April 16, 2024, in his home with his family by his side. He was born on June 2, 1951 in Lubeck, Germany, a son of the late Martin Sr. and Selma (Lindhammer) Srugis. In 1956, at five years old, Martin came to live in the U.S.

He worked in food service for over 50 years and retired in 2018 as the Food Service Director of the NH State Psychiatric Hospital.

Martin was a member of several committees in town, including the Londonderry Historical Society, Solid Waste Committee. Londonderry Athletic & Field Association (LAFA) and the Budget Committee.

Martin enjoyed spending his time at the LAFA fields and was known to wear his LAFA shirt, high socks and shorts. He worked at LAFA so much, they named one of the trailers “Marty’s Trailer.” Martin also spent his time playing sports with his son, Matthew, playing golf and doing yard work.

He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah (Danaher) Srugis; son, Matthew Martin Srugis and girlfriend, Kristin Mosier; brother, Robert Srugis of MA; three sisters, Gertrude Srugis of Wolcott, CT, Andrea Caron and husband Philippe of Prospect, CT, and Gloria Bohusk and husband Thomas of Prospect, CT, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Following cremation, services will be held at a later date by the family. The Peabody Funeral Homes & Crematorium is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers please donate your time to volunteer at LAFA or monetary donations to LAFA, PO Box 78, Londonderry, NH 03053.
