Obituary

NEWTON, MA ---- Steven Samuel Hall, 84, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton, MA.

Steven was born on January 19, 1940, in New Haven, CT, the son of Samuel and Berenice (Maddocks) Hall.

He attended The Holderness Prep School and entered the Engineering School at Yale University at 16 years old where he earned his degree in Civil Engineering. He received an MBA from UNH later in life. He spent 3 years in the US Army stationed in Milano, Italy. He specialized in procurement for large projects especially during the years he worked for Bechtel Corporation. He lived in 42 countries and 37 states during his life. He was a lifelong enthusiast of railroads and locomotives. As a teenager he would hitchhike from Plymouth, NH, to Clarks Trading Post in North Woodstock, NH, where he eventually drove the train at the Trading Post and the Hobo Railroad.

He is survived by his wife Fang Fang, his two sons Samuel and Mark, his two brothers Keith and Gardner. He is predeceased by his younger sister Penelope.
