Allan Daniel O’Toole of Wilmington, NC, formerly of Franklin, MA, passed away unexpectedly after a very brief illness on February 18, 2024. Allan was 59. He was the beloved husband of Deborah O’Toole and proud father to Nicholas and Cameron O’Toole. Allan was the son of the late Lawrence and Beatrice O'Toole, brother to Lawrence O’Toole, Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Attleboro, MA, Joseph O’Toole of Portsmouth, RI, and James O’Toole and his wife, Teresa, of Medway, MA. He was the adored son-in-law of Uwe and Betty Beyer of Dunnellon FL and uncle to 11 nieces and nephews: Thomas, Samantha, Ryan, and Kristen O’Toole of Medway, MA, Joshua O’Toole of Attleboro, MA, Grace, Sam, Lily, and Mia Beyer of Saratoga Springs, NY, and Brianna and Kurt Beyer of Tuscon, AZ. He is survived by many relatives and friends.
Allan was an incredible man who devoted his life to caring for others. His wife and children were the light of his life, and there is nothing he would not do for them or them for him. A graduate of Dedham High School and UMASS Boston, Allan impacted the lives of hundreds of children, families, and colleagues throughout 27 years of service to The Walker School in Needham, subsequently in various public schools throughout Massachusetts, and finally, Coastal Horizons in Wilmington, NC. Allan’s “happy place” was his part-time work as a Zamboni driver, especially at Milton Academy. He was loved no more than by his wife and children. Aside from his devotion to his family, Allan enjoyed the simple things in life and taught others to do the same. He loved Saturday morning yard sales, music, trips to the library, watching the Bruins, and playing music with his childhood friends in his band, Spiny Norman. Allan left us far too soon, but the loving example he set for his wife and children and for anyone who came in contact with him will endure forever. As the saying goes, “He was a good one.”
Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., Dedham on Friday, Feb. 23 from 4-7pm. His funeral will be held from the funeral home on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 8:30am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Dedham at 9:30am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Interment in Mount Benedict Cemetery, West Roxbury. A gathering to remember Allan will be held after the funeral.
